Frequently Asked Questions

  • The X4 is designed and assembled in New Zealand.

Here we test all our systems before dispatch and conduct our flight testing programs.

The X4 is built using components sourced from established international suppliers.

  • The X4 has completed its flight and ground validation program. The platform has transitioned from prototype testing to limited production. Build slots for 2026 are available in limited quantities.

  • Yes. The X4 is available as Professional R&D / evaluation UAS platform – not yet CE certified for EU market.

We have limited 2026 production allocations. Orders are accepted subject to configuration review and production slot availability.

  • ViewHawk deliberately limits early production volumes to ensure:

    Consistent build quality

    Controlled configuration management

Direct technical support for each customer

This approach prioritises reliability and long-term platform integrity over scale.

  • The X4 is designed for professional, enterprise, and government operators operating under approved unmanned aircraft regulatory frameworks. It is not intended for recreational or consumer use.

  • No. The X4 airframe is not type-certified.

Unmanned aircraft are approved through operator certification and operational authorisations, not aircraft type certification. Regulatory approval remains the responsibility of the operator and relevant aviation authority.

  • The X4 is designed to operate within established frameworks, including:

CAA New Zealand  Part 101 and Part 102

    EASA (EU) Specific Category

CASA (Australia) ReOC and related approvals

Final approval depends on the operator, mission profile, and local aviation authority.

  • BVLOS operations require specific regulatory approval and are assessed on a case-by-case basis. While the X4 may be technically suitable for such missions, approval must be obtained by the operator from the relevant aviation authority.

  • The X4 features a modular payload architecture designed to support enterprise sensors including imaging, mapping, and specialised payloads. Payload compatibility is confirmed during configuration prior to production.

  • Yes. The X4 is an open, modular platform. Customer-supplied payloads or avionics may be integrated subject to engineering review to ensure safety and performance are maintained.

  • Published performance figures reflect validated test results obtained during flight testing. Actual performance will vary based on payload, environmental conditions, and configuration.

  • ViewHawk provides:

    • System documentation

    • Configuration guidance

    • Technical support aligned with the customer’s operational profile

    • Operational approvals, pilot certification, and operation authorisation remain the responsibility of the operator.

  • Production X4 systems are supplied with a standard manufacturer’s warranty. Full warranty terms are provided at order confirmation. Early production units may include additional operating conditions.

  • Build slots are allocated following a configuration review and acceptance of a production agreement. Pick your X4 configuration and click - Request X4 Configuration - a team member will get in contact, deposit is required to secure a 2026 production position.
